So the other day my grandma gave me a whole bunch of wheat pennies, buffalo nickels and mercury dimes. So i looked through them for key dates and what not. Then i ran into a mercury dime that looked like the portrait had more hair on the side. So when i compared it to the other coins it had looked pretty odd. Here's a pic http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u186/sandrock86/CIMG0744edit.jpg i'm wondering if this is an error first of all or if it is something common after the mint process.
Sorry. That's PMD (post-Mint damage). Looks like a coin wrapping machine may have caused the semi-circular indentation in the surface of the coin. Keep looking.
I looked at this coin again and i'm wondering if those are die cracks above the T in LIBERTY and on the neck of the portrait. I can get better pics if needed.
Why wouldn't you keep it? It's still 90% silver :smile About the die crack, I don't see it personally in the picture already supplied :kewl:
try this pic http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u186/sandrock86/coins/CIMG1184.jpg a bit blurry but you'll get what i see
