I just recently found this 44 Wheatie and was wondering what kind of error this possibly is?

Post Mint Damage. Something has hit the tail of the 9.

    dbk,

No offense intended but have you studied the minting process? If not, you should. If you understand the minting process and then study how different errors occur you should be able to spot simple PMD like you have been posting the last couple of days.

Nice old well used LWC and you provided good graphics.

Looks like a coin that has been in and out of the till a few times for over a half century.

As far as I can tell it's only error is it has be around a while and through some rough times.

Heck, it may have been a 50 caliber casing scooped off the deck then resurrected and served another 67 yrs in commerce.

I can't think of a production error that would produce this effect.
