Hello all! I am new to this site an I think I have found a double stamped 1944quarter. At first I thought it was something that occurred after the actually minting but the back had obvious streaks in the lettering as if they were melted that way. Here are some pictures because I love collecting but I'm not a pro an don't know how to best describe it. e54fb351.jpg ef040d55.jpg da71487f.jpg

I would love to know if this is a real error and if so an idea of its value.

100% pmd. On the bright side, it's silver, so you have some melt value.

For some reason... someone stuck a hole saw to the back of the coin. That is what caused the teeth marks and it was apparently grinding on something on the obverse. 100% post mint damage. It's worth silver value only...

I vote end coin in a wrapping machine malfunction.

I agree. Small hole saw, coin probably slipped out of whatever was holding it quickly. Or something.

I was thinking it was under the short leg of a chair at first, but I agree now with 'hole saw'
