Just a few hours ago I was looking at other peoples' rare penny finds. I decided to go and check my bag of wheaties that I had already gone through three times just in case I missed something. Turns out I did! :smile

Is this a D over S, or just some damage marks?
If so, how much is it worth?
Can you possibly grade it for me? IMG_6502.jpg IMG_6506.jpg

Also, does this look like a double die? IMG_6510.jpg

Thank you all of the help!!!

Hello and welcome to cointalk! It is a bit hard to tell from your pictures as they show up very small. See if you can get a better picture of the mint mark on the 44.

For the 55 what you may have is a "poor mans doubled die" as the real 55 DDs are obvious even with horrible pics. I have seen a few threads about the poor mans 55's and people on here have a lot of mixed opinions on them. Cool to have but not worth very much... I think a few people on here are even willing to give them away they have so many:)

    Hi,

The terminology for the 1955 cent would be doubled die, if it were one. It is not. I don't really see any evidence of a type that appears doubled due to die wear either, which of course is not a doubled die. It is mislabeled and has been for years, a poorman's doubled die even though there is no die doubling.

The worn die gave the last 5 or 55 the appearance of doubling and the coin was hyped as a cheap substitute for a real 1955 Doubled die and it was sold as a way to fill in a hole in a coin album for cheap.

Unfortunately the incorrect name stuck and some people think it's a doubled die when it is not.

The 1944 D cent, has, in my opinion slight potential to be a 1944 D/S as even in the picture you can see what might be the small projection above the D that might indicate the D/S.

It is impossible to tell anything for sure though as the picture is too small.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Sorry, that is the best I can do for tonight. I will have better pictures up tomorrow. If you click on the picture it will get larger.

Yep, a better picture of the '44 would be nice. Got a loupe? Put it in front of your lens.

How about this picture. It is the best that I can do with my camera. IMG_6535.jpg
I took this to the coinstore today and the guy said he did not know. He said it could be worth $25 but I do not take his word for it as he did not look at it for very long. He was very busy.

First or third one possibly. Could it be a new variety or just something weird like damage marks? I am still looking for what it could be.

It doesn't appear to be an Over Mint Mark like a D/S. Probably damage.

The mint mark on your example is positioned further north in relation to the date than the 1MM-001.
