You need to work on your ability of identifying damage versus something that was a mint error. Especially if it's as old as this 76 year old nickel.
There is so much you need to learn especially the difference between a Mint Error and a Variety. Here you go - https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/1655/Variety-versus-Mint-Error/
Also, do you know what a Doubled Die variety would be? It's not and never is a double strike issue. It's doubling created during the creation on the hub when the image was created. Here is some info - http://doubleddie.com/58222.html
Damage is just damage.. You will find it on thousands of coins. Don't assume it's a mint error or variety just because it looks different or strange. Patience is needed when learning. I've been collecting Mint Errors for 34 years and every once in a while I myself learn something new
Due to the distance, it would be impossible for such as a DD, with no similar doubling of adjacent areas. since it was made in the old hubbing process. Some say it is possible with the new single squeeze hubbing. Jim
