I am new to all of this but learning everyday. I have a 1943s mercury dime with many defects. The color is a steel grey and damage on the obverse.. Any ideas if this is an error or was it from some type of abuse? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks...

I would guess PMD (Post Mint Damage) since there seems to be something going on with the rim. The grey is just unattractive toning/weathering.

It looks like a metal detecting find that came from a gravely area or possible from a side walk removal.

Thank you. I am very new to this and am always questioning what I think. I agree with you regarding the unattractive toning/weathering. It looks like it got dug up some where.
