What does a real 1943 Washington quarter double-die look like? I did quick search on eBay and a couple other sites. No luck.

I'm going through a box of silver coins I recently purchased. Don't know anything about quarters, but saw that there was a double-die for 1943 listed in the Red Book. I found a very worn coin with what look like some doubled letters and numbers. I've been fooled by machine doubling and post-damage before. Please check the photos.

I'm starting to think I might have found something. I was checking values in the Red Book and PCGS website.

What grade do you think this is? VG/F?

    2005 Red Book 1943-P double-die for EF-40 at $225.

    PGCS F at $156, EF at $620.

I'd call it Fine. Very nice close-ups, by the way. It looks like legitimate doubling to me. Nice find!! :D

Normally I would keep anything interesting that I found. However, you people are showing me all of these beautiful coins! I need to get something in mint state... maybe a Morgan CC. I also hope a Washington quarter collector would appreciate it more.

I put the quarter on eBay. The link is in the Auction forum. How do you sellers do it? I've only sold one old postcard a while back. Have always been a buyer. I had a nice listing ready, then I saw the fees. Had to strip it down. Wasn't sure if I should request a reserve bid. We'll see what happens.
