I thought you guys ( includes gals ) might like to see the steel I found recently and Yes, in eBay specials. Has a double eye-lid and some shadowing around his head and below the date some extras I can't figure out.
Your extra eyelid could be die gauges like whats under the date. But, it does look like an extra eyelid, a minor one. Deteriorated dies are well known for 1943 cents...
Yea, I researched it alittle before posting it and I realize there is die deterioration. Some of those links people have posted like Coppercoins and The Lincoln Resource Site have been very helpful but they do not show every variety so I like to get some other opinions. The Heritage Archives has been an amazing read as well lately. pennies minted on dime planchets are something I just learned about and considering how many rolls I have searched I wonder how many I over-looked. I've saved everything unusual or old from rolls for two years and every time I learn about a new variety it's a blast going back through every single penny in my collection and finding out they are more valuable then suspected. This site and the people here have been stellar in their efforts to help the new collector!
I would like to see a good picture of the obverse. Also a more clear and better lit picture of the date area. I have something in mind but I don't want to say until i see better shots to rule something in or out. Thanks, Bill
