I recently acquired a dozen 43 steel cents. Not to be a "doubting thomas" but... they seems to be in good shape and maybe almost too clean. Can someone tell me if there are any telltale signs of improper cleaning. I looked under a 6x glass and did not see any swirls.

btw..i'm trying to get half way decent pics to post

I think with the zinc plated cents, it is often a case of re-plating. Not too sure how to tell, but I'm sure someone here knows.

More common is the concern that they may have been replated if they appear too clean or bright. Being a steel core with a zinc layer on top and bottom, regular cents show the steel core different from the zinc top and bottom, looking at the edge. A re-plated coin will look the same on the whole edge ( no steel visible).

    Thanks for the info guys.
Having checked these more closely, i have convinced myself they are reprocessed.

Reprocessed cents will have a very prooflike look or feel to them. These are quite common.
