1943 Steel “war penny”

    I know it’s just worth a penny but this is a second one I find. In the day copper was too pricey and redirected for the war effort. Thanks Randy! Wish it were in better shape but still a keeper.

    The 43 steel cents were made because copper was redirected to the war effort.

    I got it partially correct. The penny of steel of the war. Makes one wonder who has ever touched it. Sounds silly but true. Thank you!

    And the cents from 1944 to 1946 were made from spent shell casings.

    Keep in mind.. Steel Cents are not magnetic. They are Ferromagnetic which means that they are attracted to a true magnet and it sticks to it.
    A lot if newbies understand it the other way around.
