1943 s possibly steel penny

Welcome Mike. All Cents minted in 1943 (save for a couple really rare ones) were made with steel. Yours is well loved and shows corrosion. It's worth maybe 2 cents, but a fun historical piece.

 

Yes.. it is made of Steel. The magnet test is used to show that it is attracted to it.

The one you should be on the lookout for is the 1944 Steel. It's considered a transitional error. Almost impossible to find.
