Hi Theresa , your coin has what is referred to as die deterioration and or mechanical doubling

 

Yep, die erosion.

And it appears that your coin is reprocessed (grainy photo though). Other than that, it's a normal cent.

 

Let me ask you error guys a question if I may...... A 1943 cent is a steel cent and this one appears to me to be reprocessed as many steel cents are. Could this shadow doubling be the result of the reprocessing process?

 

@Randy Abercrombie Yes. Typically speaking, plating on and in corners can be problematic. Depending how the solution is attracted during the plating/replating process will determine where the buildup will occur.

 

This is what they can look like overtime,two of my poor examples I don't have them anymore.

 

1943 steel cents are a sore spot with me right now, so I can't be objective at all. Sorry.

 

Yes it sure can but it doesn’t happen all the time.
