1943 S Nickel

    Cool, I got this in my change tonight. A war nickel if I’m not mistaken.

    You are not mistaken. Coingratulations! You have been "silvered".

    I used to get them fairly often. Hardly ever do anymore, but I hardly ever use cash or coins anymore, since I do 95% of my transactions with a debit card these days.

    In the early 60's I worked in a small grocery store. You could spot a war nickel or steel penny from 10 feet away in the cash drawer. We also used to get SLQ's and WLH's on a fairly regular basis.

    Amazing how many war nickels people still find in circulation. I have found a few mysalf over the years.

    As long as it has the letter's P, D, S, on top of the house as I tell all my friends that don't understand where to look. Yes you have a war nickel worth about $1.00 give or take.
