Hello, I am new here. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a value and grade on one of my mercury dimes in my ever growing collection. Also, does anyone think I should get this slabbed?
Common date with a silver value of a few dollars, not worth slabbing... here's a similar one on eBay for a BIN of $4 (and welcome to CT): http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-S-Merc...02?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item53f2579ace
Lets see, 1943-S Mercury 60,400,000 Mintage.... F to VF I'm going to say about $3.50 - $4.00 maybe a bit more on eBay. Just my two cents.
Thanks. I'm relatively new to collecting coins (a little over a year) and am still not sure about a lot of things, like grading.
Along with getting yourself a Redbook, there's some pretty good photo grading guides available. Here's one for Mercury dimes: http://coinauctionshelp.com/How_To_Grade_Mercury_Dimes.html
I am new to collecting too, Mercury dimes are my coin of choice. That was the first time I have seen that link. Could someone please explain the reason for the diff in MS63-65? I mean the MS65 looks a bit sharper but is there a detail in particular I should be looking at?
