I was going out to the vending machine in my building and popped a quarter in twice and it kicked it back out. I shook it with the others and it has a distinctive sound.

Anyone want to help out someone who knows nothing about coins?

    Thanks.

In 1943 the quarters were made out of Silver...I think it would be worth about $1.25 for most silver quarters.

The "S" indicates it was minted in San Francisco, along with 99.7-million others. In circulated condition most are worth only bullion value to a few dollars, but the silver Washington Quarter with the highest catalog value is the 1943S with a doubled die obverse.

It's not very likely, but if you do have a genuine one of those, it's worth quite a bit. :D
