    Hey everyone,
I found this odd 1943 P steel penny while looking through my old stuff with my new eyes:)

The top left pic is a normal 1943 I have and the other shots show what appears to be some slight machine doubling, but stranger then that, the God and We both appear to be very different from the "normal" ones I have. The centers seem to have a more oblong shape which is strange and also the We almost seems to be offset and strangly damaged as well.

I can not find any information on possible different dies that may have been used - anyone seen this before?

Please forgive my lack of photo editing skills, i have no photoshop and MS paint can only do so much:)
    THANKS!
    J

Keep looking, it works, I have found stuff, but a lot of non-varieties.

Yes, I agree with these guys. I have several steel pennies I thought were DD's only to find out that there were a lot of problems with the planchets for that year and some even produce a mirror-effect like this one. Still though, your coin looks in great shape even though it has that little spot(s) on the obv. Nice coin. If you have doubts, coppercoins.com has a great inventory on steel pennies that will show you how to spot DD's for that year. Good luck!
