They do have silver in them and that is a war nickel. It's worth it's weight in silver so a $1.10.

$1.10? hmm. I bought a folder of nickels from 1938-1962 complete. it also includes an UNC. 1950-d. I bought it for $30.
war nickels:1942-1945=28 war nickels in the folder, if I paid $1.10, (1.10x28=$30.80)

ok that, plus the $20-30 for the 1950-d $50.80-60.80.
they practically paid me to buy it!

Don't quote me on this, but I think only some of the nickels minted those years contain silver.

The indication for a war time silver nickel can be clearly indicated by the enlarged mintmark over monticello on the reverse.
