Hey guys, I was wondering if you could verify for me whether or not this is considered a DDO. The "E" in liberty seems to be the biggest indicator to me, but also I see doubling on the "RTY" as well. Can I get an idea of value for this? Thanks!

I definitely see split serifs on the E, leading me to believe it could be a DDO. Unfortunately, your photos need more light and clearer images to be 100% sure.

Thanks Seattlite86! The only camera I own is my cell-phone lol, so unfortunately these were the best takes out of like 20. Haha

Do you have a 10x loupe? Put a light by the coin, put the loupe directly on your phone camera, move the pair until the camera focuses, click. Don’t use digital zoom, it will reduce quality, just crop away whatever you want later.

Looks to my eye to be an 1943 P DDO- 007
    Cool find.....but for the 43 P alone there are 70 RPM's
    43 P ddo's & ddr's......are quite a few too! ;)

I do see the doubling on (pretty much) all of LIBERTY and in some parts of the motto, IGWT.

There's 24 different varieties for that year on VV for DDO's alone. I looked at Brian's too which had less and there it looked like a DDO-004 but that would mean the reverse would be a DDR-001. Take a look since you have the coin in hand and see if the markers match up.

It will only be worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Condition is a big factor.

Yeah you're probably correct...I gave it a quick glance with so many known ddo's!
That's the thing with war nickels it's a cherry pickers best learning tool.
Just about every date there is a variety of some sorts durring the war years.

Here is the reverse picture, Which part should I look for in order to determine if the reverse is a DDR-001? Sorry, I'm very new to this! IMG_20190312_145208927.jpg

I don't see any doubling on the reverse.

That's a pretty worn down coin so many of the markers have been worn away making positive IDing harder if at all.

I do have a loupe and I tried to use it this morning. the problem is, I couldn't get it to focus until it was right next to the coin and I couldn't see it w/o the light :(

Again war nickels are a lot of fun....and some big varieties can be found...43 double eye, 43/2 , just to name two.not always valuable dollar wise, but learning wise they can provide you just about any variety one could imagine.

I'm not sure if this is still available but varietyvista.com had a complete list you could down load all war nickels rpm's. I had it on an old Mobil that came in handy at shows . It was a very useful tool right in your pocket.

You don’t have a gooseneck lamp or flashlight? I understand your frustration, but poor lighting is the #1 issue I see with photo clarity.

Yep, I've got an LED gooseneck light, but it's not all that powerful. I had it over the coin before I took the pic. It does take good pics otherwise though, that aren't so close up: IMG_20190313_084726647.jpg IMG_20190313_084821349.jpg

These are great photos. Do you have photoscape? It’s a free download and will help you crop out the unwanted area.
