I have only a half dozen Merc, 1919 and newer, but one, is 1943 and completely different than all the others. It hardly has any dings on the finish, and the finish appears like fine silver jewelry. The digits, figures, and numerials are all clear and sharp and raised. Since I only have junky old circulated stuff, how could this coin hold up so well, when I have 2007 nickels that a severly nicked? Is this some special coin? Just curious. It has no mint mark.
Mnay excellent questions, no good answers without a picture. For example: It could be a nice high grade (AU) coi; or an Uncirculated gem. or: It may have been polished by a coin doctor. Try to post a picture.
Probably an high MS state coin , that some how lucked through all the dings that affect most coins , put it in a good holder and admire it . Yes a picture would help . rzage
