1943 half dollar misplaced D mintmark?

    Why is the mintmark so high? Isn’t it supposed to be lower? Is that an error or just a variety?

    In 1943, mint marks were added by hand, so there wasn't a really "standard" placement.

    It’s in the right area but mint marked by hand as explained by @Kentucky. No premium for that.
