    Hello Everyone!

    I was curious if what I found here was a doubled mintmark on a 1943 D steel penny? 1943 D Repunched MM.JPG

It does seem close to RPM-004, but it is still blurry enough , when enlarged, to see if the split serif (end) at the bottom of the "D" is there.

Also if the coin has been re-plated, that can make a difference in the interpretation. You can tell if the coinhas been re-plated by looking at the edges. Originally, these were steel core zinc plated metal when punched out to make the blanks, so the steel core on the edge was not zinc plated, it was a dull steel or slightly rusted color. If the edge looks the same all across it is most likely re-plated.

My gut suspicion at this photo is that it is not, but better photos could change my mind. You can use the markers on the Coppercoin url above to help, especially the one on the reverse.

    Welcome to the forum!

It looks like it is from the plating
