    my 2 cents

Most of 43-PDS steel cents have some type MD.I think the mint was checking dies to much back then, plus a new alloy .you got rember that most of the press's were not automatic and press operator had a lot more to ck than the strike of the coin.I don't think OSHA was around yet.most operator were trying to keep all there fingers too

    Hi,

I'm not sure what you are implying. It sounds like you are suggesting that the planchets were fed into the presses by hand. Of course, that is not the case and the planchets were fed into the presses mechanically by the presses mechanisms.

    Thanks,
    Bill

I was just saying the coin press operator today has a lot less to do,plus a new alloy steel.and there may have been some older press type that were still hand feed.that our
government was at war and updating coin press was not high on there priority list

No, they weren't any hand fed presses in use because of World War II and the striking of zinc-coated steel cents. I just wanted to bring this out so that newbies don't pick up some incorrect ideas based upon imagination.

    Thanks,
    Bill
