I was looking at some of the photos of the Jefferson and I am sure this matches he 1943/2 regular issue nickel . Opinions appreciated.

Better pictures would be nice but yours does not look like the 1943/2 to me:

The 1943 nickel I had put in my Whitman when I was a kid turned out to be a 1943/2.

Do you still have it? I often wonder what I've spent or lost over the years. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20 right?

Oh yes, I still have it. It's only a F/VF though, and it lives in the "extra holes" of my "up through 2005" Jefferson Nickel Dansco.

Welcome to coin Talk this is a great place to find the answers you need. The nickel you have is a 1943-S war nickel . These nickels were made from a different metal during the war years . These are part silver , manganese , and nickel . This is why they are the gold looking color. The best place to post your question is under the Coin Talk forum and if possible supply a picture of the coin in question. There are members that will give you more information about your nickel. thank you .Just click under forums and select the coin talk and no need to post a poll about your coin just ignore that part ask the question and supply photo if possible and your on your way .

OK I'm going to say Yes it is a 3 over 2. I have only seen pictures of this error, Some dealer years ago showed me an example I looked and looked and said I can't see it so I never bought that nickel. Hopefully I was right.

The 43/42 is a Philly minted coin. Your coin is a San Francisco. It is not the over date.
Still a cool coin. Keep up the hunt. Welcome to CoinTalk.

Looks like it could be a rim burr. That would be considered a mint error. Not the most valuable of errors but still an error. Does the third side of the coin Look damaged?
