Just found this in some foreign coins I have. It has a few spots of white(corrosion) but is extremely well preserved with little to no wear. Any ideas if it's worth much??
KM#97, Zinc 1 Reichspfennig of Hitler's Third Reich, one of 59,858,000 minted at Karlsruhe (the "G" mintmark), in fairly typical condition. Based on the picture I would grade it as a VF/XF slider. The 2003 catalog values of F=10¢, VF=15¢, XF=50¢ and Unc=$6 are also typical of the type. The big jump for Unc is common with zinc coins, as they simply don't exist in large numbers without corrosion of the type exemplified by the white spots on this one. BTW - it would be illegal to sell it in Germany or a few other European countries where even possession, of Nazi memorabilia is strictly verboten. Anything with "Nazi" in the title or description is usually flagged on EBay as unsaleable in certain countries.
Have to agree with the previous post. I live in Munich, where Naziism began, and there is a coin shop 5 minutes away from here where you can buy all the Nazi coins you want. What is illegal is NEW Nazi stuff. So, historical things are OK, but making new Nazi flags, etc. will get you in trouble. As for eBay, they are idiots. It is not illegal to sell historical Nazi material, yet eBay blocks access to ALL WWII militaria, for example, to German servers. This means you can not even bid on a US WWII souvenir. They are overreacting and blocking auctions for no reason.
One of the wonderful things about these forums is that you can always learn something new. Now that's not something I learned here.
Well, I was glad to see your familiar face - almost literally - when I stumbled onto this one looking for info on Henning nickels.
