1942 wheat copper penny

    i saw on a website that a 1943 copper penny with no mark is worth at least $200,000 and i have one that is exactly that but 1942. is that worth anything?

    your coin is most likely worth between 2-5 cents, but maybe more if it is in uncirculated condition.

    2006 Red Book value on a 1942 cent in G-4 condition is .10! But hey that's better than face value :) The reason the 1943 copper cent is so much more valuable than other cents is because all of the 1943 cents were supposed to be minted from steel, but a handful of "mistakes" were appearantly produced from copper.

    As with most questions of such a general nature, attempt to purchase a book on coins. The Red Book would be advisable. If you do not want to spend the money, there are numerous web sites with types, prices, quantities minted of all coins. However, with pennies, always check out the coppercoins.com web site.
