I just bought one for six dollars and its BU and I was looking at PCGS price guide and I seen a regular one and fb one can someone tell me what’s the different between the two and should I grade it or its not worth it? Thanks
on the reverse on the fasces, the bands around it should be fully separated all the way across on the top band, the two middle ones, and the bottom one.
Thanks its a full band I think heres a picture of what it looks like in the back even though its not mine. I dont have a working camrea at the moment so I cant post any picutres of it but its a MS 66/67 I think. Anyways should I grade it?
If you're asking if you should send it in for third-party grading/certification, my answer would be no. With the cost of postage, insurance, and grading services, you would turn your $8 coin into at least a $40 coin. It would have to grade out at least MS-66 for you to even come close to breaking even. If you're absolutely positive it's full split bands, and you're absolutely positive it will grade MS-66 or better, then I would send it in. It doesn't sound like you're too sure, though.
Thanks for all your help guys it’s very much appreciated as always. I have to get a new camera soon. I keep looking at the middle band and it seems full I don’t see no split of any kind. When I can I will post a picture of it.
As noted don't bother to have that coin or a coin similar graded unless you plan on selling it on ebay. And depending on the grading service it could be a MS-62 to -67. Otherwise if your coin looks like that, forget that. Note on the coin pictured the lack of exact lines in the bands. Also, not the poor edge line over the United States. And of course just what does the obverse look like?
I'm just going to keep mine in my 2x2 Mylar holder for now. Btw that's not my coin above I just used it as an example.
You want the coin to have a split. The term FB is a bit of a misnomer. More proper is FSB ("full, split bands.) If there is no split, then your coin is not FB, and it's not worth sending in, even if it's an MS-66.
