Just above Jefferson's head, it may not be an official pre-cud. It may be just a lamination that is rolled over. And lower on the obverse is a very near rim to rim lamination.
I don't see yours listed.. Could have it added! http://cuds-on-coins.com/jefferson-nickel-cuds-1938-1949/
feel like it's a rim fin or more lamination. reason being a cud is a break off the edge of the die or the rim collar and I'm not seeing that break on both sides going to the edge of the coin. it stops before the edge, I also think the spot above the top of his head is missing lamination/rim fin, and the rest is still there. A pre-cud is generally a crack at the edge where the die or collar has fractured but hasn't dropped the piece out and is still intact, but fractured. looks wrong to me to be a cud or pre-cud. looks raised to the right, looks low to the left, but doesn't complete to the edge. But as said, Fred is the resident expert.
It has the correct 'look' of a rim cud on the right side, but can't tell for sure from damage on the left side. Needs to be seen in-hand by someone. In any case, I hope the OP doesn't submit it for certification, as it is not worth a fraction of the submission fees/etc., and the coin looks cleaned, so it wouldn't straight grade, imo.
Thanks Fred. I've had that coin since I was very young, probably 70 years, I don't recall ever doing anything to the surface. I never intend to submit any coins for certification. All I desire is to ID them and post them for comments.
