I've seen some examples on the 'net of the "Broken Back" shillings, and it looks the same as many of them. But, I want to make doubly sure that this is a Broken Back error. Does it appear that the lower back region is missing? Thanks in advance!
Well, I sure would say that's what it is. Looks just like all the other attributed examples of the Broken Back 1942 Shilling I see online. Apparently there are a couple dates for this variety (1942, 1958, and 1965.) Want to hear something cool? I've been saving three older NZ Shillings in my foreign silver bin...sure enough, guess what one of them is? Just for fun, here are the other two: 1934 1 Shilling Note the cool obverse die crack going from the crown (in front of the ear) almost down to the rim. 1937 1 Shilling
