From your other photos, from the link, it looks as if the mintmark has damage. The metal looks to be smeared on the surface. If the photos were just a little bit clearer I would be able to tell exactly what it is. The links included to a variety for that date from other CT members on this thread don't resemble your coin to much. Your RPM, if it even is one, seems to be punched again SOUTH-WEST of the original mintmark. These other photos look to have the mintmark repunch directly to the WEST. Again, I am not exactly sure, but judging by what I see infront of me, it looks to just be mintmark damage (possibly from a crimping machine). -Brian
I agree, just look at the nick on the number 2. Whatever hit that also hit the mintmark and took a chunk out and smeared it downward.
