1942 D Lincoln Cent OMM/RPM???...Opinions Please

    It looks very similar to this example. I found it on Coneca's Site- 1942-D RPM004 (Top 100)

    From your other photos, from the link, it looks as if the mintmark has damage. The metal looks to be smeared on the surface. If the photos were just a little bit clearer I would be able to tell exactly what it is. The links included to a variety for that date from other CT members on this thread don't resemble your coin to much. Your RPM, if it even is one, seems to be punched again SOUTH-WEST of the original mintmark. These other photos look to have the mintmark repunch directly to the WEST. Again, I am not exactly sure, but judging by what I see infront of me, it looks to just be mintmark damage (possibly from a crimping machine).

    I agree, just look at the nick on the number 2. Whatever hit that also hit the mintmark and took a chunk out and smeared it downward.
