1942 copper wheat penny

    I read these are rare wondering if that's true? And it doesn't stick to a magnet..why is it Red?

    are you thinking of the 1943 cent being copper ? yes those are extremely rare.

    Over 650 million 1942P cents were minted. I don't know about you, but I would not consider that to be rare.

    Molly, you probably heard that war era cents are steel except for the few rare copper minted war era cents. And that is true, however it only applies to the year 1943. Your cent is a common cent.
