1941 nickel, with "prints"?

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by dave new to coins, Oct 7, 2014.

  1. Hello, wondering if anyone has seen this type of thing and knows where it comes from? I have several pennies like this, but this is the first nickel I have found.

  5. Yes, I suppose they are, but the pennies seem similar. Any ideas? PMD? Wear and tear? I could try to get some better shots.

You were closest to the mark at 'wear and tear'; they are fingerprints.

The Lincoln cents are similar because they are round and copper-colored. However, the fingerprints are different!

I don't know, looks like the nickel and the last cent have the same latent print :cyclops::):p
