1941 Lincoln DDO

    I found this one searching bank rolls this morning and can't figure out if it's a true double-die. I researched Heritage's Archives and can't find a comparable. It blew me away when I found it due to it's condition and didn't think about the known DDO's for this year till later and looked at it under the microscope and noticed the split in the 4 of the date.

    Any ideas?

    Wish I could get a better picture of the 4 in the date. Under a microscope you can see the split at the apex of the 4 and see two 4's over-lapped.

    Die deterioration doubling,not a doubled die. I have seen many like that

    nice looking '41 though for costing me one cent.

    I understand the die deterioration but if you could see what I see on the 4 under a microscope you may change your mind.

    Can you get a good shot of the last T in TRUST? Or at least check to see if you see any notching there?

    I still can't tell from the photos(looks like MD), but here's what Coneca lists about a variety that is the only one that seems to come close to what you are describing:
