Ok guys...finally managed to get a half decent photo. So, I would like your opinions on grade etc I have 30 of these ranging from 1941 to 1966. They are all in this shape and the ones dating in the 60's still have a fair amount of lustre
IMHO you are showing a cleaned F. Judging by the amount of wear it's seen, I can't believe that you have others in "similar condition" with any luster at all, let alone a "fair amount" BTW, I'm sitting here drooling all over my keyboard, waiting to see photos of the 1953-66 George VI coins. All I've ever seen from those years had his daughter, Elizabeth II, on them.
Canadian 50 Cent The coin dose not looked cleaned, telling from the reverse. Coins of the years you have only start showing values at VF. No special dates between those years. Value Between $2.50 to $4.00. however I have seen sealers not sell for less then $5.00. Whatever you do, do not look for a George VI coin after 1952, no such thing. Regards
Twiggs, the King George VI 50c. series is not an easy one to collect,as there are several varieties, especially in the 1950,plus the 1947 Maple Leaf & 1948 50c. coins are very scarce. Aidan.
I have seen sellers sell similiar coins as scrap silver, at today's silver spot its worth about $4.88 CAD. However like Aidan said there are many varities so they could be worth more then spot even in that condition.
Defiant7,the pictured coin isn't scrap silver at all.If someone offered me Canadian silver 50c. coins at bullion value,I would gladly buy them,as there's a few good dates there that someone may miss.In the Queen Elizabeth II series, the 1959 is the distinctive one, apart from the 1967. Aidan.
I am not saying the coin is scrap or junk in the literal sense. I am saying the many seller just sell these coins for the silver value plus a premuim. Trust me when I say it is still a very nice coin. I have bought many 50 cent and dollar coins really close to spot, not because of the silver, but because I still thought they were beutiful coins.
Defiant7,thanks for clarifying where you were coming from.If you are looking for nickel 50c. coins apart from the 1968,don't even bother,as they are very hard to find. Aidan.
takes me doing alot of shots to get a half decent one, so these are a little crappy. I don t have the patience to play around with lighting etc. right now...these are 63,64,66
They aren't. My Dad use to get them when we were small kids (30+years). He would just throw them into an old coffee can. I remember we use to sneak some to buy candy, which he wasnt too happy about...but what did we know..lol Anyway, I got them about 1986 when he died, thrown into a dresser. Just recalled...they were in an old jar at first. When he got tired of us sneaking them, he sauldered the lid onto an old coffee can so we couldnt get at them
