Hello Group. Would appreciate some opinions. I am looking at a 1941 through 1945 P, D, S year sets which were sealed in a cellophane type holder from a company in Denver reportedly in the 60's. Now the seller has a 100% feedback rating and a 5 day return guarantee. The seller believes these coins should grade between 63 to 65. Assuming a 63, on all coins, what would be a fair price for these sets. I am particularly interested in the walkers but would also like to have the other coins. I do not want to get crazy with this and way overpay. These are on an E Bay auction Any ideas. Thanks
Hi bama_guy, With my limited experience I find it would not be difficult to fake these sets as being sealed that long. My thinking is that if they were in such an unstable environment as the 1960'sh holders and wrapping was, then there would probably be some discoloration of at least one of the coins. Just an uneducated guess... I am in no way and expert. Oh the other hand, if you need the coins for your album they might be a good deal. I have paid 5 to 20 dollars each for nice 63-65 red wheats which were graded by the dealer. The only way you are going to be sure about them is to purchase a set and see for yourself if they are that good. I don't think I would bid any higher than what I would pay for them in a coin shop. jeankay
Thanks for the post and advice. I had a predetermined amount I was going to spend on each of the actually 5 sets I was looking at. Our power went off and only came back on this morning so I did not even bid. Based on the closing price, I would have received 3 of the 5 sets. Just as well. Maybe someone was trying to tell me something. I would have felt I was missing something if I had not bought the entire 5 matched sets. That kind of thinking could be dangerous . Just another learning experience. I need to focus on what I am trying to collect anyhow, what ever that is Off the subject but I might as well ask for future reference. What is the easiest way to post a link from EBay to this forum . I know it is simple but I am a simple person:goofer:
Simplesy way is to just use copy/paste. When on the ebay page place the cursor in the address/url box. Right click and select Copy. Then when posting here, when you are ready to post the link just right click and select Paste. All there is to it. There are other ways but that is the easiest.
