    Here is a 1940 Lincoln cent with an impression that looks like a back slash on the reverse N of cent.

    Looks like some minor de-lamination going on there. Minor lamination error, IMHO, nice catch!

    Nice close-up image! Have you tried dipping a q-tip in pure acetone and lightly rubbing it on the anomaly to see if it dissolves?

    Upon examination it's a lamination due to contamination.
