Ok, this is the last post for the night. I have a 1940 wheat penny with the "puncture" marks on the tails side & you can see the rise & discoloration on the heads size. Could this have happened when the coin was made, or is it more than likely PMD?
It seems part of your penny was struck in another dimension, definitely extremely rare. Or upload normal photos.
I'd say it's likely that coin got stuck in the transition between parallel universes. Best I can tell you off those pictures.
Yes, something was in a parallel universe, from the looks of those pics, it was my camera. Hopefully these pics will be better.
I also have a penny with the L in liberty messed up and the sides have double passed marked looks as if the die moved or possible another nose to the left of his face couple different things I was told could make mine rare but i want to know how much? Someone please help
Please someone tell me if I'm wasting my time or not lol my friends told me it is worth thousands and I figured it wouldn' hurt to ask so any help or info at all will greatly be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Based on the images you have something worth 1 cent. That may change with images of the front and back of the coin. They need to be in focus to get good answers.
From what I've researched, any fair condition 1940 penny is worth no less than 35¢. You it's hard to tell from the image quality (too blurry), but the L in Liberty looks like it could be a mint error... It also looks like circulation damage but that's a guess since I can't see it moee clearly
If talking about the coin shown in post #8, it's simple damage. If from the earlier post, that was almost seven years ago. As for "fair condition", you would need to clarify and put in less vague terms, but generally speaking an "average circulated" 1940 is both very common and can easily be found in bulk for just a few cents each. Unfortunately, real world values often do not match up with those claimed by guides or online sources.
Best way to see if they know what they are talking about is sell it to them at a discount of their "thousands"
