The nine is not right can someone tell me what would cause this and what it may be worth?

I assume you mean the 9. That would be PMD (post mint damage).

Well, a hammer and chisel would work, but identifying exactly what hit it with some force is just not possible.

I just don't understand. It just looks like half of the nine is missing not removed here is a bette pic.
