This nickel is in an old SEGS holder MS64 5+ STEPS. The obverse has a die chip in the "4" of the date and one near the mouth that makes TJ look like he's chewing tobacco. The reverse has two die chips, one on each side on the roof of Monticello that look like snow piles.
It's not unusual to have die breaks form on the edge of a device or on a post that forms the center of a letter or number. Chris
Back in the 'old days' (the 60's), those die chips on the tops of the building were nicknamed "alligator on the roof' errors !
It has not changed much over the years Fred. Now it's "snow on the roof" with the Homestead quarters.
Oh, please, Fred! Don't give anyone ideas. We have enough trouble understanding these kids, today. Chris
