Recently picked these up, in VF/XF, and was just wondering what their background and value was? It's a 5 Lire Italian note and 1 Lire Italian, 1939 or 1940: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/subliminalxtac/italian.jpg And anyone know who the guy on the 5 Lire is? Any value at all? Thanks
The "guy" is King Victor Emmanuel III, the last Italian king. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Emmanuel_III_of_Italy
my appologies. I have been out of town for close to a week, and did not have my manuals with me. its late now, but i will look the note up tommorrow
the 1 Lira (P-26) note should be dated 14.11.1939 and in VF valued at around 30 cents. The 5 Lira (P-28) note was issued dated with either 1940 or 1944. Both dates are worth about $2 in VF.
