1939 Wheat Cent on smaller than normal planchet

    This little fella was in a larger collection I recently purchased. The diameter is just shy of a typical wheat cent…
    Any ideas what I might have here? Is it possible that it was struck on some international planchet that was also being struck at the Philadelphia mint?
    I’ll post a weight in a bit.

    The collar was filled and the details are correct. Ask yourself how that can happen at the mint?

    Yes. Your Cent was previously encased in a Aluminum Lucky Cent Holder. Somehow they squeeze/force the holder and the Cent together using high pressure. Enough to alter the coin. How do I know this? I have removed Cents from holders in the past and they always have a slight smaller diameter.

    You coin also seems to have the remanence of gold colored gilding on it which adds to the premise that it has been in a Lucky Holder encasement.
