1939 Penny Mint Error?

    Hi.
    I have a 1939 Penny with the word "AMERICA" all slid down on the coin.
    Could this be a Mint error? 0306241818_Film1.jpg 0306241819_Film1.jpg

    Looks like damage. The rim appears to show some damage in the same area of the burnished material. Interesting illusion, but not a mint error.

    Naw. It would have been nice and shiny 85 years ago when minted. Those stains, while cool looking, happened much later.
