Looking at this 1939 Jefferson Nickle noticing the condition both obverse and reverse I'm able to see 3-4 steps. Can anyone give a grade and worth, thank you.
while it's in nice condition for its age, it has been circulated. There should be 5 steps so the value is maybe $1.00, maybe.
It could be a proof coin that got put into circulation. That coin is pretty well struck for a business strike 1939. Or it could have recently been displaced from someone's collection.
I really don't see much wear but it does have signs of circulation, I'm going with AU58. Unfortunately it would need to be gem grade to have any significant value.
Thank you for your opinion everyone, even without significant value it's nice to find one in awsome condition.
That year isn't all that rare and this coin isn't ms condition so it isn't worth that much but still a cool find
I got a 1939 Jeff in seven cents change today. Not as good as the O.P.s pix. Who gets change these days, anyway? Everything is by "card". Of course, after proudly displaying it, I tossed it into my little bag of non-precious U.S. coins. Gosh, I hope my fistful of copper and nickle doesn't "electrolically" fuse into an inchoate mess!
True, one seldom gets as much change or uses cash as often nowadays, at least speaking for myself. Side note: wow- "inchoate" in a sentence. Awesome.
PS- on second glance at the OP coin, I think my original assessment of AU50 was a bit low, and based on the somewhat soft strike of Monticello. I dunno that I'd go as high as AU58 like a previous respondent did, but I suppose that's possible. Nudge my prior opinion up to AU53-55-ish. Nice find, regardless.
