1939 Jefferson Nickel - what's going on here?

    I decided to catalog all the varieties and errors I have...while taking a closer look at this coin, I saw what appears to be an "O" (or a "flat" notation symbol from sheet music) poking out from the right side of the T in MONTICELLO. Has anyone ever seen this before? It's definitely not PMD as it is raised and there isn't any damage or wear next to that letter...

    Hard to tell if it's a random die gouge, or a roping die break. Often before a big die chip breaks off of a die adjacent to a device, we'll see what I call "roping" die cracks similar to this.
