I have had this coin in a 2X2 flip for years. Looking through EF and AU older coins, I thought I see mild doubling. I am not an expert on double die coins. My gut says Mechanical, but would like others opinion. IMG_1839.JPG IMG_1840.JPG

Pictures of the whole coin and turning down the lights would help also.

    I'm going with NAV doubling.

Trying to get an enlargement by using a loupe doesn't help either. If you want to search for varieties like doubled dies and post photos of them, you need better equipment. Would you try to enter a NASCAR race using a go-cart?

I need to see the entire reverse on one photo. Then a close up of MONTICELLO and another close up of FIVE CENTS. This looks like a specific year. What is the date on this coin?

I thought it was but couldn't make the date out. Definitely need those reverse photos. I think you may have the DDR asvits the correct year.

Here's a photo of mine. It's worn but still visible. It was difficult for me to get these photos but you coin looks to not be as worn.

I will figure out how to get the pics needed. I put this coin in a flip in 1967 per date on the flip.

The DDR on the 1939 shows very prominent doubling on the letters in MONTICELLO.
Use the search box here, there are some very good photos and examples.

I would say it is not. The best way to tell is to look at the O in monticello. It's such a strong doubling it looks like 2 o's very close together.
