I recently aquired a 1938 D half dollar in very fine condition for about $60. I did not think much of it at the team, untill I picked up a newer copy of coin world, when to my amazement I saw that the price had jumped to almost $120 for the same coin. When I looked at the mintage I was even more amazed! This is really a coin to hang on to and buy up whenever possible! A dealer friend of mine told me that the price is not expected to slow anytime soon. He said he has been in the dealing buisness for two years now, and in that time he is now buying 38-D's for what he used to sell them for. What a find!
Coin World's Coin Values publication is not very accurate for pricing info. Completed auctions give better pricing information. Completed Ebay auctions have 1938-d in VF at $85-$95. I would agree that 1938-d's are a good investment. Charlie
I got one off a hoarder about a year before they took off...I got it for $15 and ANACS graded it F...I would say VG... Speedy
I wish I had picked up on this before they took off, now I have to save up before they get too high and buy as many as I can find.
