Need some advise...Found this 1937 cent that of course I want to keep but I can not see me putting this in a 2x2 with corrosion all over it....What do you think? Quick dip of Acetone? Thanks ahead of time....
Acetone may take some of the gunk off but I am of the opinion that your cent is donezo. If you do dip it in acetone, I'd like to see an "after" pic to see how it turns out.
If you try to use acetone, you'd probably end up spending more money cleaning it than the coin is worth...not worth it in my opinion.
Ok thanks guys for your input / advise.....I think I will give it a big ol swallow of acetone and see if it pukes.....or not....
With this kind of coin, a water bath (distilled or tap) with a toothbrush scrub is not going to hurt it. The acetone is good too, but I would use water first.
Since it's only 1937 and you aren't buying a house from the sale of this coin, you can clean it improperly with just toothpaste on both sides, rubbing it between your fingers. And then rinse/ paper towel. While I would not suggest this method on a valuable coin, this coin has very little value over face, and it might shine up.
I don't understand. All of this effort for a coin that won't even buy you a gum ball? Spend the damned thing already!
