I bought this weathered 1937 Bank of Toronto $5 on line today. If I stick to my "less than $100" budget, I think I can put together a pretty decent collection of Canadian Charterred Bank bank notes. I would love to have high grade examples but the prices are out of my range.

Cool images on that note. Gotta wonder about the one in the lower right corner though... "hey, I can't squeeze this last corner in - think it'll work if I just put it in sideways?"

    My thought exactly!:D

The 1880 and 1887 issues have the same design.

Very cool note. I like the $100 budget idea for these Chartered Bank notes - Now that Toronto is sitting beside your Commerce note, I assume Royal is the next target?

There are so many different ones but in order to stay within budget, yes, I think it will be the Royal Bank. I'm not too crazy about the obverse on the Royal Bank notes but some of the reverses are incredible.

I have to agree...I'd be like a kid in a candy store.... very beautiful, very expensive candy.

Is that a unicorn on the right hand side of that image?

Yes, it is. It's the Royal coat of arms of England, I believe.

That's a seriously cool note there! I like it a lot! The sideways 5 makes it all the better I think!

It does make one wonder the reasoning behind putting that one design element on the note that way. Usually there is a balance, on this bill there isn't.

Remind me of my favorite currency... Obsolete American notes.

Obsolete's are hit and miss ofr me. I think my rationale for one is whether or not the appearance of the note appeals to me. I would have probably bought this one if I came across it.
