Hello All! I stumbled across this 1936 P Lincoln cent recently and have read that it might have some value. I think I saw doubling on the "In God We Trust; Liberty, and the date as well as portions of Abe through my 20x loupe, so I scanned it. This is the best I could get the picture to show up at 1200 DPI. I have read about machine doubling, and I don't see the typical "shelf" associated with that kind of doubling, but I am definitely no expert. I guess I need to get a macro photo of it, but to be honest I am clueless as to the proper camera/flash settings to get those beautiful and detailed close up shots. I have a Canon Powershot SX 110 with 10 X optical zoom. Is that a good enough camera to do the job? Please let me know what you think. Am I wasting my time with this? Thanks!
From the pics, it looks exactly like machine doubling. The doubling you are looking for wouldn't have a flatten surface (caused by die chatter) but would like a double image of the letters or "devices". The secondary image would be the same height as the primary image.
right on i kan digit it die chatter , if it was really a ddo it would have 2 layers on it.. the igwt , and date .. but its stilll someething nice to hang on to..
