Howdy fellow coin peeps, :thumb: I just acquired a 1936-D Texas Commemorative that is graded/slabbed by PCGS and I figured it would be kewl to see if anyone can guess the grade? :kewl: Ribbit Ps: I put a fairly low bid in on this a while back and didn't think I'd win it but I did. Now I gotta start counting the change in my piggy bank so I can pay for it, since the 1801 DBD I picked up this morning pretty much broke me. :mouth:
It would have to be on the slab but I am not 100% sure, since I just won this and it won't be in my possession for another week or so. But due to the PCGS grade, I doubt it could be on the coin itself (hint-hint). Ribbit
We"ll assume the packaging...I'll stand pat on 63. However it looks very well struck .....could be higher.
I personally hate trying to guess a grade on these since there is so much to take into consideration and the peeps at the TPG's know that stuff and I don't, so I can only make an uneducated guess (aka: a stab in the dark with the lights on). Ribbit
Don't know much about early comm's except what I read in the Red Book. Have seen many examples of early comm's and what strikes me is that many are not well struck. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. I primarily collect modern comm's which always, as you know, are very well struck.
See "J" I wanted to say that but I'm just not confident enough in my grading techniques....tend to be too conservative.
They remind me of the Peace Dollar and how low the Relief was on it. I guess it was the "in thing" at the time. Ribbit
PPS i am sure you spent too much money on this one lol j/k 2 sucker punches in one day this is hilarious and how many times have i said dont store your piggy bank in the pond you are ruining tomorrow's treasures today
You know me, I'm terrible at grading silver so I always overbid. I'm going to have to get you to go shopping with me, when I'm in the market for silver, so you can keep me from over grading and over paying. Ribbit Ps: I may have to break into your piggy bank to pay for this. :hammer:
there arent any piggy banks there are big vaults and yes if you come with me they are looking for an heir to my debts
