I was going through my coins checking for possible varieties and this caught my eye. Looks like something is going on on the mint mark. Its in a ms-66 pcgs blue series holder with no attribution, but very possible it wasnt submitted with the variety service included. Does this look like the D/S? Maybe the D/D? Just wondering if anyone who has come across one that could answer my question before I attempt to re-submit to get the variety. Thanks!
There aren't any OMM's for any other year than 38D. The coin above's MM doesn't match the FS-511 for 38, it doesn't match any of the MM positions. If this is a 36D then it can only be an RPM. Here is a link, check them closely for MM position. The closest IMO are 001, 009, and 012. http://varietyvista.com/03 Buffalo Nickels/RPMs 1936-D.htm
Comments: See Treasure Hunting Buffalo Nickels page 114. It is listed as a D/D/D Northeast and Northeast by CONECA. The Cherrypickers Guide notes this to be an OMM variety identifying it as a D/D/D/S. Clearly not all attributers agree on this one! After a little searching PCGS has the listing wrong. This is because this MM was an OMM, but it has since been de listed. Below is the 5th edition of the Cherrypickers guide. 2009 edition VOL 1. 6th edition of the Cherrypickers guide. 2015 edition VOL 1 Here is the MM. The MM position does not match. If your MM does happen to be a D/D then you would start with MM position.
